General Information For Knitting & Crochet Preemie Garments 1. Only use Baby Yam. 2. Yarn for preemie garments should be washable. 3. Pastel colours are preferred by hospitals. 4. Wash garments that become soiled during construction. DO NOT use fabric softeners or perfumes. Ivory Snow is ideal. 5. Place your garments in plastic bags to protect them from soil. On a piece of paper or Guardian Angel tear sheet, fill out your name and address, plus, the total number of garments that you are donating. When knitting or crocheting please keep in mind the approximate sizes for these infants. Head sizes of the infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care units vary from the size of a medium size orange to a large grapefruit to full-term babies with low birth weight.
