If the Concept installation claims that the
carriage is going the wrong way please do the following.
1. Go to Interactive Knitting and press the Esc
key to remove the opening dialogue.
2. Hold down the Control and Shift keys, then
press the F7 key, then release Control and Shift.
3. A dialogue box will be shown, displaying the
state of the "Ignore RI" option. It should say that Ignore
RI is now ON.
Having done this, the option will stay at that
setting and won't need doing again unless Concept is reinstalled.

| XP help
We have had quite a few helpline calls in relation to XP
with the Concept and DesignaKnit. In order to use the Silverlink without
mispatterning, it is necessary configure XP as follows.
Select Start / Run / (type msconfig) and select
Diagnostic Startup, then accept the option to restart the computer. After
the computer restarts, it is ready for knitting. If the computer is used
only for knitting, this configuration has to be done only once, and this
option can always be left selected.
(However, certain important features such as
antivirus software and power management are turned off by this
configuration. The user should be made aware of this. If they need to use
the computer for other purposes like internet which might expose them to
viruses, they should run msconfig again and select Normal Startup and then
reboot).
With Diagnostic Startup in place, the number of interruptions from Windows
is much reduced, and their duration is so brief that they do not interfere
with the knitting process.
In addition, the screen saver should be disabled, and no other
applications should be running at the same time as DesignaKnit.
With this in mind, we recommend that users of the
Silverlink cable do not upgrade to WinXP.
Win3.x, Win95, and Win98 are safer and do not require such
configuration.

| TUCK STITCH
Tuck stitch patterns must be converted to colour patterns before Concept
can knit them. Use Palettes / Convert Stitch types.
From client:
I looked at my lace and slip patterns and
the cross is on the main yarn and they work fine. The tuck does not work
with the cross on the main yarn so I just tried it with the cross on the
contrast yarn and it works. |

Maintenance
updates and Enhancements to DesignaKnit Concept
- Cosmetic changes.
- Interactive Knitting with Silver Reed and Windows XP or ME
Some users with Silver Reed machines were experiencing mispatterning
when knitting from a computer with Windows XP or ME operating system. This
is because Windows background processes were interfering with the signal
passed to the knitting machine. In most cases this can be cured by reducing
the rate at which the carriage passes across the needle bed, but there may
still be occasions when Windows will interrupt the pattern sending, shifting
the pattern by one stitch.
DesignaKnit will now warn the user if the carriage has not encountered the
expected number of needles when passing across the needle bed. If there is a
legitimate reason for this, such as one of the point cams was moved, then
the user can ignore the warning, but if the message is unexpected, then the
user has the opportunity to check the pattern and make any corrections
before moving on.
It should be noted, however that if, when knitting a swatch for example, the
number of needles used for the swatch has not been entered correctly in the
dialogue box, then this error will occur on every row.
- Cable and magnetic switch detection improved.
